There are so many instances in life wherein we just refuse to believe that we have passed over a particular phase and move on. It happens in so many ways. A period of schoolhood, the wonderful teens, and the subsequent refusal to accept maturity, a failed marriage/love, a bad phase at the job.
Most of us resort to thinking of the good old days when the Sun rose in the West..if it ever did. I was plunged to one such phase the last few days. I was back in the town I was born. Though I did not go back to my childhood, I was transported to a very eventful period in my life. The Vivekananda Kendra.
It was the times I had completed my twelve standard. I had a lot of time on my hands. The court stay on managment quota was on. So there was an ugly battle of the rich and the merited for 5 months before even the single window opened. 6 months literally given away.
Namba ozhunga padikara pullaiya eruntha oru semester courses a antha 6 masathula mudichu college first eduthuerukalam. Ana athan illiye!!! I was whiling away the first few months(2) when my now would be manni (Uthra :Thanks) took me to the kendra to try and spend my time usefully aka learn Yoga. It was a week's course in personality development the Veda way.
I really enjoyed being there. We learnt a bit of sanskrit, yoga, meditation and pranayama :everything an Idiot's introduction. It prompted me to stay on month after month taking one course or the other in the yoga. I became a yoga co-ordinator and went on to take classes for Surya Namaskar for school students. A brief sojourn at the Jaigopal Garodia schools later, I was convinced of the effectiveness of yoga and the power of positive thinking.
Apart from effecting my outward health, there was a deeper and subtle change in my thinking and my bearing. Though I was sure that social work would be a part and not my complete life, I did start taking an interest in the horizons far beyond the reach of my eyes. The kendra's work in Assam, the North-East and Kanyakumari instilled a deep sense of courage and pride in being Indian and Hindu.
I learnt the Aditya Hrudayam under a worthy Guru, Satishji. I got an able and awesome yoga guide Bala anna. A worthy friend in Krishna. Of course a guy I admired and marvelled at:Sudarshanji, the yoga instructor. His ideals were extremely lofty. He is now a karya karta for the VK.After resigning from HCL, he is now travelling the breadths and lengths of India rendering valuable help against harvesting :of souls.
Of course arent all good things supposed to end?
Mine did too.

You know, reminiscences are sweet. And living in the past, for a while, brings joy for sure.

you know we generally forget the bad happenings but remember the good. that is why we are able to move on in life and at the same time, we think old is gold. it was the same crap, we just remember the good things. Osho suggests to try to remind some bad happenings also, which can help getting rid of this past altogether [ good and bad ].
