A precursive trend?

The position of United Nations in todays' world seems to me to be precariously hanging in question. When the League of nations was formed with simlar though less lofty ideals, the idea was to maintain some semblance of peace between the world countries and reduce friction.

United Nations has attained extreme levels of success going from education, basic living amenities and the only hope of survival in countries in Africa, poorer nations of the world.

But it was not the only aim. It was also to prevent war. I guess this used to be the main agenda and the rest followed. But today?

The world is war stricken. Pakistan, India, Iraq,Iran, Israel, Palestine,Russia, Korea, China, and joining the list of blind people leading the blind : America.

In the name of fighting terroism..

Aided by money resources from America, the United Nations is left with no hope but to remain a muted spectator to the seeds of war sprouting up in all countries.

Is it going to be a trend setter? A path breaker? Or is it going to be another "been there. Not done that" league of nations follower?

I guess we do have to wait and see.
